Fellowships 2010-2011

Purpose and Nature of Fellowships . The National Humanities Center offers 40 residential fellowships for advanced study in the humanities during the academic year, September 2010 through May 2011. Applicants must hold doctorate or equivalent scholarly credentials. Young scholars as well as senior scholars are encouraged to apply, but they must have a record of publication, and new Ph.D.s should be aware that the Center does not support the revision of a doctoral dissertation. In addition to scholars from all fields of the humanities, the Center accepts individuals from the natural and social sciences, the arts, the professions, and public life who are engaged in humanistic projects. The Center is also international and gladly accepts applications from scholars outside the United States.

Areas of Special Interest. M ost of the Center ’s fellowships are unrestricted. Several, however, are designated for particular areas of research. These include environmental studies and history; English literature; art history; French history, literature, or culture; Asian Studies; and theology.

Stipends . Fellowships are individually determined, the amount depending upon the needs of the Fellow and the Center’s ability to meet them. The Center seeks to provide at least half salary and also covers travel expenses to and from North Carolina for Fellows and their dependents.

Facilities and Services . Located in the Research Triangle Park of North Carolina, near Chapel Hill, Durham, and Raleigh, the Center provides an environment for individual research and the exchange of ideas. Its building includes private studies for Fellows, conference rooms, a central commons for dining, lounges, reading areas, a reference library, and a Fellows’ workroom. The Center’s noted library service delivers books and research materials to Fellows, and support for information technology and editorial assistance are also provided. The Center locates housing for Fellows in the neighboring communities.

Support . Fellowships are supported by the Center’s own endowment, private foundation grants, alumni contributions, and the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Deadline and Application Procedures . Applicants submit the Center’s form, supported by a curriculum vitae, a 1000-word project proposal, and three letters of recommendation. You may request application material from Fellowship Program, National Humanities Center, Post Office Box 12256, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina 27709-2256, or obtain the form and instructions from the Center’s website. Applications and letters of recommendation must be postmarked by October 15, 2009.

The MARA Scholarships provides financial aid for Bumiputera students to study courses in science, engineering, management and other courses at undergraduate, masters and doctoral level.
Saudi Arabia
The King Abdullah Scholarship Program sponsors highly qualified Saudi students, who meet the highest level of academic standards, to study TAFE, undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Public Health Scholarships at University of Salford MSC - Uk

beasiswa inggrisThe Centre for Public Health Research at the University of Salford (http://www.ihscr.salford.ac.uk/CPHR/) will provide two scholarship awards to well-qualified applicants to the MSc Public Health programme for the September 2009 entry. These scholarships cover tuition fees for either home (UK/EU) students or international students for the whole duration of the programme. Travel and living costs are not covered in this scholarships.

This Masters course provides core skills and knowledge in the field of Public Health and put an emphasis to social determinants of health. The programme is relevant to both UK and international students who wish to develop the skills and knowledge to take a lead role in areas such as prevention, promotion, protection and international health.

International Undergraduate Scholarships-University of Glasgow

beasiswaInformation: The University of Glasgow will award a total of 54 undergraduate scholarships of up to £12,000 each for international (non-eu) students starting a degree programme in September 2009 in the following faculties:

* Arts - 10 scholarships;
* Engineering - 24 scholarships;
* Biomedical & Life Sciences - 10 scholarships;
* Information & Mathematical Sciences - 10 scholarships;

Value: The successful applicants will receive a scholarship of up to £3,000 per annum as a tuition fee deduction.

Eligibility: Applicants must achieve a minimum of A-level grades AAB or the international equivalent and hold the University of Glasgow as their firm choice through the UCAS system. All applicants will automatically be considered on the basis of their existing application form, following publication of their results – no additional application is required.
